Charles Jacob Richmond was born on July 29, 1989 in Madison, Wisconsin
to Paul and Joan Richmond. He was baptized at Sts. Peter and Paul
Parish in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin and continues to call Sts. Peter
and Paul his home parish.
Charles attended Washington Elementary School and Assumption Middle and
High Schools, all in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. Charles
graduated from Assumption in 2007 and is currently a Sophomore Collegian
at Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary in Winona, Minnesota.
A Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Charles has an
interest in liturgy and scripture as well as fishing and hunting.
Charles enjoys spending time at the local trap club and shooting a round
of trap.
Charles' favorite books include J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings
as well as Scott Hahn's The Lamb's Supper. Charles'
favorite music includes Mercy Me and Matt Maher as well as Casting
Crowns and Switchfoot. Charles' favorite food is "freshly caught
bluegill cooked on the grill with butter and lemon." Charles
enjoys spending time playing guitar, which he has been playing for ten
years.
Charles' favorite saint is Saint Hubert, the patron saint of hunting.
Charles' states that it has been through St. Hubert's intercession that
he "usually ends up seeing something for even 'bagging' something."
When asked why he entered the seminary program, Charles states that he
"entered seminary because [he] believed that [seminary] is where God is
calling [him]". When asked why people should pray for priestly
vocations, Charles states, "[p]eople should pray for priests not only
because our diocese needs them but so that those studying for the
priesthood may be well equipped to take on the challenges that this
world will throw at them." Finally, when asked why young men
should consider the priesthood, Charles states that "young men should
consider the priesthood because what can be more rewarding than doing
God's will by serving the people of God in the person of Christ."
